One of the best parts of selling your home privately is that you will get to meet the buyers. When you use a Real Estate Agent, you usually have to leave your home when it is being shown to a buyer, or during Open Houses. You don’t get a chance to meet the buyers, or to judge for yourself, their reactions to viewing your home.
When you sell privately, you get to meet the buyers, show them your home yourself, and answer any questions they might have. No one will know your home better than you! You will be able to get a feel for their level of interest and reactions to your home.
Before showing your home, make sure it is sparkling clean! First impressions are critical, and home buyers often make decisions on whether they are interested or not interested in a home within the first few seconds of arriving. Make sure their first impression is positive! In addition to making sure your home is clean, make sure it is inviting too. Turn on all the lights, open the blinds, and put some music on.
Make the buyers feel welcome, and let them know you are glad they have come to see your home. Invite them to have a look around, and let them know you will be available should they have any questions. Once they have finished viewing your home, ask them if they have any questions. If they do, answer them as honestly as possible. And don’t hesitate to ask what their impressions of your home were, and if it fits what they are looking for.
Thank them for coming, and give them your contact information or a feature sheet to make sure they can contact you if they have any further questions or would like to make you an offer.
